Historically our client have been an electronics designer and manufacturer. Now they are moving into opto electronics products design and manufacture. This is a new role reporting into the engineering manager, working in the engineering team leading the productisation of optical products.

There are 2 new products initially for the 2025 year, with a pipeline of new products for 2026. We are looking for someone to start ASAP and you will be the company SME for process modules. This is a lead role, but not initially leading a team but working closely with the design engineer and production to bring the product to eventually mass production (initially 50-100 per month, eventually 1000 per month).
They haveorders in place, the design is done, they need to manufacture it to cost, yield etc. The product currently doesnt exist in the market place and this will help establish the client as a leader in opto-electronics.
Essential Requirements of the Process Development Engineer
- Experienced with the engineering development (of prototypes) and production release of an opto-electronics product
- You will have been involved with the package assembly of opto-electronics at fibre to dye level (not the wafer level) - a 2 point end to end product where the microelectronics fibre touches the dyedown to micron level - secure it and stake it for a harsh environment
- NPD - lean manufacturing experience, full production of fibre optics products
- PFMEA experience
Desirable Requirements of the Process Development Engineer
- Telco opto-electronics / miniaturisation experience
- SC Cleared / Clearable
- Military standard / DEFSTAN product experience - Military and Aerospace grade product experience
